The Dojo at Equinox Studios

The Dojo began in 2010 as a shared rehearsal space in the original ‘Big Blue’ building at Equinox Studios, an artist collective in Georgetown, an industrial district in South Seattle. From the beginning, The Dojo has been a resource for the local music scene and creative community. As Equinox grew in size and notoriety within the Seattle art scene, The Dojo moved to its larger, current space in 2013.

Rather than a bunch of small rooms with thin, sound-bleeding walls and nowhere for musicians and guests to socialize, The Dojo provided one cavernous but comfortable room with a large stage and full backline for all to share. Since then, The Dojo has become a sought-after destination for musicians to practice their craft. Much more than just another jam space, it is a meeting place and melting pot for local musicians and Seattle bands.

In 2026, the studio was completed and now the large communal rehearsal room serves as the main live recording room. This beautiful sounding space sets The Dojo apart from the other affordable facilities in Seattle.
